Marleaux Bass Guitars Reveals Innovative New Bass Model, The Spock

Marleaux Bass Guitars held their annual Tiefgang Bass Camp in September during which time they unveiled a new bass model. Now we have full details of the amazing instrument.

The Spock is an innovative design by luthier Gerald Marleaux that uses a brand new material for its archtop body called “Marleaux Logic Mesh.” Developed with the Clausthal-Zellerfeld Technical University, the material has several benefits.

“This transparent material, unique to bass building and never used before, has tremendous strength and, most importantly, sounds sensational!” The Marleaux website explains. “The ‘Marleaux Logic Mesh’ top allows for a variety of aesthetic visions to be realized for customers. However, it’s not just the appearance that speaks for this unusual concept, as the SPOCK model also impresses with its exceptionally low weight.”

The Spock has a medium 32-inch scale while still having 28 frets. Its 3-piece maple neck is laminated with smoked oak veneers and reinforced by carbon. Its pickups are a pair of coils under a wooden pickup cover. A mini-switch allows for toggling between parallel, series, and single coil operation. Marleaux also added a 3-band EQ and passive tone control.

Another innovative feature is the new bridge design, which features a floating string holder made of a wood and stainless steel laminate.

The Marleaux Spock is available for order starting at $5,491.
