Children Of Bodom’s Final Concert Released As New Live Album
Finnish melodic death metal heroes Children of Bodom released ten studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums and one DVD over their 26-year career. Turmoil led the group to break up in 2019, with their final show taking place on December 15th, 2019. Now that last performance has been released as the close of the band’s career.
A Chapter Called Children of Bodom (Final Show in Helsinki Ice Hall 2019) captures the emotion and energy of the night with the band’s final lineup giving it all they had. Bodom’s final band roster included guitarist Daniel Freyberg, keyboardist Janne Wirman, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppälä (aka Henka Blacksmith), and guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho, who sadly died just a year later in 2020.
“Needless to say that this night was very special,” says Seppälä. “When ‘In Your Face’ started, the reality hit me and I had to turn away from the audience cos I actually started crying. But the beauty is that the memories and Alexi’s music will live forever!”
Laiho was the band’s frontman and only songwriter, and as such the record has been released with the support of his estate. After Children of Bodom’s dissolution, he continued on as Bodom After Midnight before his passing. Seppälä has most recently joined the band Moon Shot.
