Paz Lenchantin Leaves The Pixies, Replacement Announced

Emma Richardson

After a decade in the band, Paz Lenchantin has departed from The Pixies to focus on her own projects. The news was shared by the group and Lenchantin herself, who wrote about it on Instagram.

“It has been a dream of dreams these past 10 years to have been accepted as a Pixie by the band and by fans, and an honor to have contributed to a vital musical legacy,” she wrote. “I look forward to their continued support and encouragement of my future projects and wish them the best.”

Lenchantin contributed to four studio albums beginning with some live tracks on the deluxe edition of Indie Cindy, which was the first Pixies album to not feature Kim Deal.

In the same statement that announced Lenchantin’s departure, The Pixies revealed their next bassist.

“We are delighted to welcome Emma Richardson on bass,” they wrote. “Emma will make her worldwide touring debut with Pixies on the first night of the ‘Bossanova x Trompe le Monde’ European tour, beginning this Friday in Dublin.”
