The Black Crowes Return with “Happiness Bastards”

The Black Crowes: Happiness BastardsAfter putting a bitter brotherly feud to bed, The Black Crowes have returned with their first new album in 15 years. Happiness Bastards marks a triumphant return for the band featuring the duo of vocalist Chris Robinson and guitarist Rich Robinson.

“‘Happiness Bastards’ is our love letter to rock ‘n’ roll,” says Chris. “Rich and I are always writing and creating music; that has never stopped for us, and it is always where we find harmony together. This record represents that.”

“This album is a continuation of our story as a band,” adds Rich. “Our years of experience writing and making music and touring the world are represented in this record, and we were brilliantly guided by one of the best producers in the business, Jay Joyce. I am incredibly proud of what we put together.”

Happiness Bastards also marks the recorded return of bassist Sven Pipien, who first joined the fold in 1997. Check him out in the video for “Wanting and Waiting”:

Happiness Bastards is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes, and Amazon MP3). Pipien will be on tour with the Black Crowes during their world tour to support the album. See full dates below.

I’m very happy to hear a new record from the Robinson Brothers! Pretty solid songs, which I’m sure will be repeated well live. What’s missing to me is the BAND! Almost no personality on the keys, the drums parts are bland and mixed poorly, leads are meh and WHERE’S THE BASS?!? Disappointed you never mention the mixing of low end on this record.
