Dan Lilker Rejoins Anthrax For Upcoming Tour

Dan Lilker

Anthrax is gearing up for some tour dates in April that will see them hitting Central America and South America with a pair of U.S. dates in May. However, they’ve got a lineup change for the dates as longtime bassist Frank Bello will be unable to join them for personal reasons.

The band announced on Facebook that the bass position will be filled by none other than original Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker. He founded the band with guitarist Scott Ian, making them the only two original members that will be in the lineup.

Lilker played on the group’s debut album, Fistful of Metal, and was a member until 1984 when he was fired from the group. He wasn’t totally alienated from the band, though, as he went on to form Stormtroopers of Death with Ian and drummer Charlie Benante.

“I’m really looking forward to jamming with Anthrax again,” said Lilker. “When we parted ways back in 1984, they told me to stick around because they might need me in 40 years.”

“We’re all very excited about with playing with Danny again, and we really appreciate his filling in for Frank,” Anthrax shared in the same post. “It’s been way too long since we played South America, so you don’t want to miss these shows, they’re going to be insane.”
