Milan Srdanovic: Niška Banja (9/8 Solo Bass Arrangement)

No Treble readers never fail to impress us. Here’s a video Milan Srdanovic shared with us of a masterful solo bass arrangement of “Niška Banja.”

In the 9/8 rhythm, I simultaneously play the accompaniment on the open strings and the theme of the song ‘Niška Banja,'” he shared. “This solo bass piece sounds very interesting because it resembles the sound of the traditional instrument Drombulje. It also sounds as if two bass guitars are playing at the same time, although it is performed by one bass guitar, except for the subsequently recorded chords and the second voice of the theme in the second part of the song. For so long, the song “Niška banja” was considered a traditional song. New research shows that it was composed by Dušan Cvetkovi?, an actor from Niš, back in 1927. The song was played on a Fender Jazz Bass ’62 Reissue 1982 Fullerton.”
