Martin Méndez Announces New White Stones Album, “Memoria Viva”
Opeth bassist Martin Méndez has announced the third album from his band White Stones. Memoria Viva follows in the footsteps of the first two albums by blending several genres into a heavy format, but it takes a different approach by being sung all in Spanish.
“Making an album in Spanish is something that I wanted to do for a long time,” notes Méndez. “We tried it out with our second record, Dancing Into Oblivion, but at the time we couldn’t convince ourselves that it worked on that album. This time we did, and I feel very proud of the result.”
White Stones released a song along with the album announcement. “La Ira” features some killer unison riffs and, of course, some monster bass playing.
“‘La Ira’ is a song reflecting on the power that greed has over our minds,” Méndez explains. “The awakening of ‘La Ira’ [English – ‘the anger’] refers to our instinctive reaction about choices that affect humanity and life itself. It’s a song of hope; the hope of decisions for the betterment of the world we live in.”
“La Ira” is available now. Memoria Viva will be out June 28th on CD, vinyl, and and as a digital download. Pre-orders for the physical editions are open now via Reigning Phoenix Music.
