Wee Thunder Amps Introduces Blood Orange Tube-Driven Preamp Pedal

Canada’s Wee Thunder Amps has unveiled the Blood Orange, a preamp pedal featuring a 12AX7 tube and a three-band EQ. The circuit is based on a classic Orange bass amp.
“We chose to base our pedal on one of the best tube-driven bass amps ever made, the AD200B,” Wee Thunder states. “From full, powerful cleans to beautiful harmonic break up to full out fuzz this pedal covers it all. To build a true amp in a box we run a 12AX7 tube at 250vdc, full tube amp voltage, and use MalloryMl50 and Silver Mica signal capacitors just like you would see in a real, high-end tube amp.”
The Blood Orange features a solid aluminum housing and true bypass switching. It runs on a 9-volt adapter with a standard DC input. Wee Thunder offers to ship the Blood Orange with a tube installed or without one, in case you have your own stash.
The Wee Thunder Blood Orange pedal is available now directly from the manufacturer for approximately $237 USD without the tube and $259 with a JJ 12AX7.
