Bass of the Week: Belforti Instruments M3

Belforti Instruments M3 Bass

This week, we’re checking out a stunning bass from the Paris-based manufacturer Belforti Instruments. This Model 3 from the M Series features an incredible one-piece flamed eucalyptus top over its roasted ash body. That beautiful wood is matched through several pieces of the bass, including the headstock inlay, the pickup covers, the wooden knobs, and even the wooden tuner knobs.

A bass should sound as good as it looks, so Belforti fitted this M3 with their AURA III-M pickups, hand-wound dual coil humbuckers featuring scattered poly winding, and Alnico V magnets. (The pickups were built and designed by a former Devialet Senior Engineer.) A Delano Sonar MS/E preamp adds further tonal flexibility.

Finally, Hipshot Ultralite tuners and a Hipshot single bridge system round out the features. Of course, the M3 can be configured with many different options.

“On top of all the standard features we offer for every bass and guitar, of course, namely rated woods, PLEK treatment, angled and full-length carbon reinforcement & so on,” Beflorti CEO Marin Nourry-Belforti tells us.
