Meshell Ndegeocello: Love

Meshell Ndegeocello dropped an exciting new video today.

No surprise, “Love” features Meshell’s excellent bass work (and vocals). The band also includes Justin Hicks and Kenita Miller-Hicks on vocals, Abe Rounds on drums, vocals, and percussion, Jebin Bruni on keys, Jake Sherman on key bas and Hammond B3, and Chris Bruce on guitar.

This is the second song to be released from her upcoming album, No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin, which drops on August 2nd.

“Nearly a decade in the making, the album’s origins began in 2016 during a performance at The Harlem Stage Gatehouse as part of their annual showcase honoring Baldwin. Ndegeocello had delved into Baldwin’s work the year before, including the seminal nonfiction work ‘The Fire Next Time,’ which she considers ‘life-changing’ and carries with her as a ‘spiritual text.'” Meshell shared. ‘It was just a revelation to me, and it softened my heart in so many ways.'”

Corey Brown is the founder of No Treble and serves in an advisory role. He’s also Head of Editorial at Muse Group. Learn more about Corey on his website and LinkedIn.
