Phil Jones Bass Introduces Double Four Plus Combo Amp

Phil Jones Bass has added to their best-selling Double Four combo amp with the Double Four Plus. Aka the BG-80, the 90-watt single-channel bass combo amp features two four-inch speakers and a three-band EQ.
The amp is noted for having a DC input (USB Type-C port) to power an on-board battery system, allowing you to take the amp anywhere regardless of AC power availability. Other features include an aux input, a stereo headphone-out jack, a line output, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Even with its small speaker size, PJB says the amp can handle the lowest of lows.
“The BG-80 is ideal for all kinds of basses, and can handle the open B string on a 5-string bass with ease,” they write. “PJB has applied its cutting-edge experience in designing small speakers to achieve a 4 inch driver with Swiss watch precision. PJB’s R&D facility utilizes the largest an-echoic chamber in the bass guitar amplifier industry as well as the transducer Klippel measurement system with laser technology. The result is PJB’s proprietary ‘long-thro’ 4-inch speakers that have full frequency range up to the highest audio frequencies. Not only does this give greater clarity and transparency to the instrument, but also a high-fidelity sound to any backing track fed into the auxiliary input.”
The Phil Jones Bass BG-80 Double Four Plus is available now for $559.99.

This release doesn’t really point out what is new about the Plus. Compared to my Double Four, new features include bluetooth input, a separate line out volume control, and the USB PD connection.
