Thelonious Monk: Blue Monk (Norway, 1966)

This outstanding video hit my radar a few days ago, and I was glad it did.

Recorded at University Aula in Oslo, Norway in 1966, here’s Thelonious Monk performing “Blue Monk,” with Charlie Rouse on tenor saxophone, Larry Gales on bass, and Ben Riley on drums.

Masters at work.
