Dream Theater fans flipped out with the announcement that drummer Mike Portnoy had rejoined the fold. The group has scheduled a slew of 40th Anniversary tour dates and has been teasing a new album for some time. Now they’re letting fans in on more details.

Parasomnia will mark the group’s 16th studio album and their first with the iconic lineup of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. The album title gets its name from a term for “disruptive, sleep-related disturbances including sleepwalking, sleep paralysis, and night terrors.” A press release says four songs relate to that theme.

Dream Theater has released the first single called “Night Terror” with an accompanying video.

Parasomnia will be out on January 25th, 2025 in a limited Deluxe box set, a Limited Deluxe 2CD and Blu-Ray Artbook, a Gatefold 180-gram vinyl set, a Special Edition CD Digipak, and as a digital album. It’s open to pre-order on October 11th.

Until then, the band will be embarking on their world tour starting on October 20th, 2024 in London, England.

Parasomnia Track List:

  1. In The Arms of Morpheus
  2. Night Terror
  3. A Broken Man
  4. Dead Asleep
  5. Midnight Messiah
  6. Are We Dreaming?
  7. Bend the Clock
  8. The Shadow Man Incident
