Behind the Music: Led Zeppelin Announces “Becoming Led Zeppelin” Release Date and New Trailer

Led Zeppelin has been the subject of many books and films, but for the first time ever they are fully cooperating in the making of a biographical documentary. Becoming Led Zeppelin has been in works for years with a work-in-progress screened back in 2021. However, the film has been set for release on IMAX on February 7th, 2025.
“We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs and music recordings,” explains writer-producer Allison McGourty. “Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday.”
Director Bernard MacMahon focuses on the band’s formation and early years, offering unprecedented access to previously unheard audio interviews with the late John Bonham, as well as recent discussions with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and the legendary John Paul Jones. “The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words,” Jones remarks. “This film will really bring our story to life.”
In conjunction with the release date announcement, the official trailer for Becoming Led Zeppelin has been unveiled. Watch the trailer below and secure your tickets for an immersive IMAX experience through the Sony Pictures website.
