Retro Vibes, Modern Sound: Shergold Unveils the Affordable Telstar and Libertine Basses

The vintage British brand Shergold Guitars was revived nearly a decade ago and has been once again producing instruments. The company has now introduced two new bass models: The Telstar and the Libertine.
“Re-designed for the 21st Century in the United Kingdom by British guitar luthier Patrick James Eggle, Shergold bass guitars capture the very essence of British Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the company writes. “This modern reinvention of the iconic British guitar brand makes a polite nod to its 1970s heritage, then quickly heads off it is own new direction.”
The Telstar comes in Black and Champagne Gold finishes. It’s built with a solid poplar body that’s loaded with a pair of Filtersonic humbucking pickups. The short-scale bass has a Canadian roasted maple neck with a laurel fingerboard.
The 34-inch scale Libertine is similarly built with a poplar body, but comes in Black or Metallic Gold. It has a pair of Alnico V humbuckers with a Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. Other features include a Canadian maple neck, a laurel fingerboard, and a fixed top-loading bridge.
The Shergold Guitars Telstar Bass has a price of £449 (approximately $569) while the Libertine goes for £459 (approximately $582).
