Jeff Beck and Upp Perform “Get Down In The Dirt” Live in 1974 – A Funk-Rock Time Capsule
Jeff Beck’s 1974 live performance with Upp is a hidden gem in his catalog, and today’s video captures a raw, high-energy take on “Get Down In The Dirt,” recorded at the BBC. While Beck’s guitar work is masterful, as always, it’s bassist Stephen Amazing who takes the spotlight at the two-minute mark.
Amazing was a key part of Upp, a British funk-rock outfit that Beck championed in the mid-’70s. The group’s deep grooves and tight interplay made them stand out, and Beck, who produced their records, often sat in with them.
