Bass of the Week: Meet the 37-Inch Swiss-Made Bass That Pushes Design Boundaries

Saitenkraft Interceptor5 Bass

This week, we’re checking out a killer bass from Switzerland’s Saitenkraft Guitars. The Interceptor5 is a five-string bass with a multi-scale design that stretches the lowest string to a full 37 inches, with the top string being a standard 34-inch scale.

The bass has a smoked oak body topped in a flamed maple top and matching headstock. The gorgeous maple figuring is accented in a blue transparent finish. Its neck is also made from smoked oak with a pau ferro block. A squid inlay centers on the 12th fret of the ebony fingerboard.

Other features include a set of Nordstrand Audio’s “Dingstrand Nordwall” pickups matched with a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp. Finally, Saitenkraft fits the Interceptor5 with Duesenberg Z tuners and an ABM single-string bridge system.

You can see the Saitenkraft Guitars Interceptor5 bass in action in the video for Mindcollision’s “Rising Spade”:
