MonoNeon’s ‘You Had Your Chance… Bad Attitude’ Is Funky, Fearless, and Uncompromising

MonoNeon has returned with a new album called You Had Your Chance… Bad Attitude, which documents the bass virtuoso’s ever-evolving style. The eight-song collection blends funk, R&B, and more as he dishes out his signature bass lines and otherworldly solos.
You Had Your Chance… Bad Attitude has songs ranging from the Prince-influenced opener “Bad Attitude” to the ’70s soft rocker “You’re the One That I Like.” MonoNeon has never been one to shy away from any of his musical inclinations.
“I’m in this space where I don’t want to compromise anything,” he says. “It doesn’t matter how high I want to go or how successful I want to be. I’m always going to do what I want to do, because that’s how I keep myself alive.”
The album was recorded between two very different places: MonoNeon’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee and Floki Studios in Iceland. Much of the music was written on the spot with longtime keyboardist Davy Nathan. “We write songs pretty quickly because he’s like a big brother to me,” the bassist explains. “He knows my quirks and my little idiosyncrasies.”
Along with the album release, MonoNeon dropped a video for the new song “Beyonce”, which has some serious Parliament vibes going on.
You Had Your Chance… Bad Attitude is out now on as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music). MonoNeon will be on tour in support of the album, including some support slots for Primus. See below for his full itinerary.
