MonoNeon Brings the Funk at Yoshi’s with “Tell Me That This Love Ain’t Real”

MonoNeon is back with a fresh live clip from Yoshi’s Oakland, performing “Tell Me That This Love Ain’t Real.” Armed with his signature Fender MonoNeon Jazz Bass, a TC Electronic rig, and his trusty Digitech Whammy Pedal, Mono delivers the elastic grooves and warped pitch bends that make his playing instantly recognizable.

As always, MonoNeon keeps the bass moving like a conversation. The groove stays deep while melodic ideas pop up between vocal lines, giving the tune a loose.  The clip comes from his run of shows at Yoshi’s, a room known for capturing special moments between artists and audiences. Judging from the pocket and crowd energy in this performance, it looks like one of those nights.
