John Myung and Dream Theater Announce “Parasomnia” Tour with Entire Album Performed Live

Dream Theater has been on the road celebrating their 40th anniversary, but now they’re ready to focus on their latest album, Parasomnia. The band, anchored by bass titan John Myung, will be performing their sixteenth studio album in its entirety each night on the run.
The tour will begin on September 5th in Reading, Pennsylvania and will snake through the Southeast into the Midwest and out to the West Coast. The band will cut back across the South and up through the Heartland again to get to New York. The final date is scheduled for October 25th at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
Parasomnia is the first album to feature drummer Mike Portnoy since 2009’s Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Myung told Bass Player that having him back changed the band’s whole feel.
“Getting a different drummer actually affects everybody in Dream Theater, because we all play off the timekeeper in the band, but having Mike back just felt right,” he said. “There were so many magical moments where everything came together. We’re like family.”
