Duesenberg Launches Chris Chaney Signature Bass With Custom Inlays, Vintage Style, and Limited Distressed Model

Germany’s Duesenberg Guitars has announced a new signature model for the highly accomplished bassist Chris Chaney. The new bass is part of their Alliance Series and comes in three finishes: Black, Gold-Sparkle, and Distressed Black. Chaney, who is currently on tour with AC/DC, worked with the company to create the right bass for his needs.
“I’m blown away by pretty much every aspect of this instrument, down to the materials, that happen to be my favorite,” he says.
That combination includes an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. While the new Chaney Bass takes many cues from vintage instruments, it does add an extra fret to allow reaching a high E. A deeper cutaway lets you reach it, too. The bass has lots of personal touches, with Chaney’s initials inlaid at the 12th fret as well as representations for his children and wife in the control knobs and neck plate.
Other features include Duesenberg’s new Grand Duplex Bass Pickups, a large anodized aluminum pickguard, and a PUR lacquer finish. Duesenberg even puts each bass on a vibration machine for over 100 hours to simulate years of playing. “You get a head start with a bass like this,” Chaney says.
