Evan Brewer Powers Fallujah’s “Xenotaph” with Melodic Basslines and Sci-Fi Themes

Tech-metal band Fallujah has returned with their sixth studio album, entitled Xenotaph. A follow-up to 2022’s Empyrean, the new album has a slightly different lineup with guitarist Sam Mooradian and drummer Kevin Alexander joining vocalist Kyle Schaefer, guitarist Scott Carstairs, and bassist Evan Brewer. Brewer joined the group just before Empyrean.
“New album from Fallujah is out now!” he wrote. “I’m thankful these guys trust me to create basslines to their insane riffs. They did an amazing job on this album! It’s worth your time to take a listen.”
The new roster helped shape Xenotaph, which features a central sci-fi theme and a vast dynamic range.
“Having numerous self-sufficient writers in the band who all agreed on a shared vision allowed us to work as a team to make sure every song was intense, detailed, and dynamic but not overbearing in any aspect, at least to our tastes,” Carstairs says. “We spent many hours trying out different arrangements and had a goal from the beginning to keep the song structures fast-paced and dense with tons of different parts in each song. We also tried to push the music in a simultaneously more melodic and more technical/progressive direction—even crazier riffs and solos balanced out by atmospheric moments and more prominent clean vocal hooks.”
Brewer delivers both melody and technique on the single, “Kaleidoscopic Waves,” with crushing riffs as well as singable bass lines. Check out the music video:
