Russian Circles Plots Final “Gnosis” Tour Before New Album—and Reflects on the Power of Live Sound

Russian Circles have spent the last few years touring behind their eighth studio album Gnosis, which was released in 2022. Now the instrumental trio has made an announcement.
“We will be playing the final Gnosis shows in the US before we begin our next album,” they shared. “Delighted to have Blackwater Holylight joining us for the majority of the dates and our longtime tour mates Young Widows for the last two in Nashville and Chicago.”
The tour will begin September 11th in Detroit, Michigan, and make its way into the Northeast before heading south to Nashville, Tennessee. Their final date on September 26th is in their hometown of Chicago, Illinois at Thalia Hall.
Russian Circles is anchored by the crushing tone of Brian Cook, whose distorted bass starts Gnosis on the right foot. While the band’s ninth album will be in the works, his love is still playing live.
“Even though we’ve used technology to go further into writing and composing on a laptop, the experience is still meant to be three people in a room projecting sound,” he told Audiotree. “Music is supposed to be a communal, experiential thing. It has to have an incarnation in the real world with people interacting.”
