Glenn Hughes Returns with “Chosen,” His First Solo Album in 9 Years, and World Tour

Glenn Hughes Chosen Album Cover

For much of the past decade, bass icon Glenn Hughes has been collaborating with The Dead Daisies and commemorating his time in Deep Purple through tours featuring songs from his extensive back catalog. Now, he’s back to focusing on his own music by announcing his first solo album in nine years.

Chosen, which will be released on September 5th, will mark the 15th solo record in his discography. The work is described as his “most spiritually punishing masterpiece yet,” and one that’s deeply personal.
“Songwriting is deeply personal to me, and l generally write and record when I have something to say,” Hughes explains. “It’s been nine years since I recorded my last solo album, Resonate. There have been recordings and collaborations with other artists, since 2016. When writing “Chosen”, I went back to my life drawing board, writing about the human condition, love, hope, faith and acceptance. I write about how I feel on the inside and not externally. My life is lived from within, in the present moment. It’s an album of soul food, and I’ve never been so grateful, right here, on planet earth. Music is the healer!”

The “Voice of Rock” has given fans a look into the new album with a video for its first single, which is the title track. “Chosen” features rumbling bass and soaring vocals, embodying everything for which Hughes is known.

In addition to the album announcement, the bassist has revealed a massive tour that will take him from Europe to South America. He’ll be joined by guitarist Soren Andersen, drummer Ash Sheehan, and keyboardist Bob Fridzema. See below for the full dates.

Chosen is available for pre-order on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music).
