Rare HD Release of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s 1985 Capitol Theatre Show Featuring Bass Great Tommy Shannon

A rare HD video of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s October 4 1985 performance at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic New Jersey has just hit the web and it is pure gold.

The show was part of the Soul to Soul tour with Tommy Shannon holding down the low end alongside Chris Layton on drums and Reese Wynans on keys. Shannon’s deep pocket drives the band through favorites like Pride and Joy Cold Shot and Voodoo Child (Slight Return) while Stevie delivers some of his most inspired guitar work.

For bassists this is a gift. You can hear every note of Shannon’s groove in remarkable clarity and the interplay between the band is locked in from the first song to the last.

I encourage you to watch the whole show but my personal favorite is “Life Without You”.

    Good job!
I have a request to Include in your list of bassists Billy Cox (William).
He was in most important recording (IMHO)
with Jimmy Hendrix – “Band of Gypsys”.
Buddy Miles and Billy Cox helped Jimmy Hendrix become practically “immortal”.
