A Newly Released 1995 Clip Shows Lemmy Fronting Jools Holland’s Orchestra on “Ace of Spades”

A wild bit of TV history just dropped. Back in January 1995 Lemmy Kilmister walked onto the set of Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and ripped into Ace of Spades with Jools Holland’s full R&B Orchestra behind him.

He came armed with his trusted Rickenbacker bass and plugged into a roaring wall of Marshall power. The horns might have been swinging but Lemmy’s sound cut through like a buzzsaw. It was the same filthy growl that leveled arenas just dropped into a big band setting where it had no business working and yet somehow worked perfectly.

The episode also had him tearing through Good Golly Miss Molly with the orchestra but this brass-fueled take on Ace of Spades is the real prize. Lemmy never changed for anyone and here is proof. Ric in hand Marshall stack at his back voice like gravel and whiskey. A big band couldn’t tame him.

Give credit to the orchestra’s drummer and guitarist being able to keep up with Lemmy!`
