Bass of the Week: Adal Guitars Shows Off Craftsmanship and Character in a Custom Spalted Maple 5-String

Adal Guitars shared one of their latest builds, and it’s another jaw-dropping example of their work. The custom five-string bass, built for bassist Fran Homer, features a stunning spalted maple top over a walnut body. A matching headstock ties the look together on the opposite end of the pau ferro fingerboard, which is adorned with block inlays.
Gold hardware really sets off the look, but we all know that a bass has to sound as good as it looks. Adal fit the bass with a pair of their FSD pickups and a 3B5N preamp. You can hear the resulting tone in Homer’s video performance of Marcus Miller’s “Scoop.”
