Orange Amps’ New King Comp Pedal Adds Sustain and Sparkle Without Killing Your Tone

Orange Amps has introduced the King Comp, a Class A compressor pedal built for guitar and bass. The unit, which operates on an 18-volt power supply for added headroom, is designed to add sustain and sparkle rather than flattening your tone, the company claims.
“At the heart of the King Comp pedal is the Class A VCA compression circuit that delivers precision dynamics with a warm, natural feel,” they write. “There is also a high-quality buffered bypass to ensure signals stay strong and consistent, even when the pedal is off. The buffer maintains clarity, keeping sound punchy and defined and makes the King Comp reliable as an always-on part of any setup.”
The King Comp has a full compressor control layout, including Attack, Release, Volume, and Compression knobs for dialing in your settings. An onboard LED displays the amount of compression that is engaged by turning from blue to pink. Orange says on the bass, the King Comp is useful for “tightening up lows, adding presence, and keeping dynamics smooth and regular without robbing low-end power.”

At second glance … 18V center positive input … side jacks … and “tightening up lows”, meaning probably loosing them lows. IMHO there are more attractive options, at least from the characteristics mentioned here.
