Empress Effects Unleashes a Halloween-Ready Heavy Menace Limited Edition Pedal

Empress Effects Heavy Menace Limited Edition

Empress Effects has gotten into the Halloween spirit with a limited edition run of their Heavy Menace pedal. The new stompbox is limited to 350 units worldwide and puts the versatile distortion effect into an awesome enclosure.

“The artwork comes straight from the original sketches that Ottawa tattoo artist Kaylie Seaver created for the Heavy Menace, making this not just stunning, but a collectible piece of Empress history,” the company writes.

The Heavy Menace Limited Edition carries the same features of the original unit including three distortion modes, an adaptive noise gate, and a three-band EQ with sweepable mids.

“Our Weight control adjusts a high-pass filter in the distortion circuit to shape low-end character. Turn it up for a thick, full sound, or turn counterclockwise for a tight response that’s perfect for palm muting and extended-range guitars,” they explain. “Midrange is a key element of a great distorted sound, so the mid frequency is sweepable from 200 Hz to 2.5 kHz to dial in the sweet spot for your guitar and amp. Scoop for a tight, aggressive sound, or push to add definition and cut through a mix.”

Other features include true or buffered bypass and a key input for triggering the adaptive gate.

The Empress Effects Heavy Menace Limited Edition pedal is available now for $249.
