Empress Effects Introduces the Bass ParaEq MKII: A Parametric EQ Pedal Just for Bassists

Empress Effects has introduced the Bass ParaEq MKII, which they call the only bass-specific parametric EQ pedal on the market. The new pedal takes features from their ParaEQ MKII series and tailors them for the bass.
“Following the success of our Bass Compressor—and after hearing from countless players who were already using the ParaEq MKII Deluxe on bass—we knew it was time to give bassists more than a ‘good enough’ EQ,” Empress writes.
As such, it has the line’s three-band parametric EQ, but with a bass-optimized frequency layout. Empress added a selectable 10 megohm Hi-Z input to accommodate piezo pickups and upright bassists. Another interesting feature is the dynamic low shelf, which helps to shape your low end without muddying things up.
“As you increase boost or cut, the shelf’s break frequency adjusts – giving you broad, musical control when you need it and tighter sculpting when you don’t. It’s like having multiple low shelves in one knob,” Empress explains.
Other features include 27-volt internal operation for high clean headroom, a footswitchable boost with up to 30dB of gain, and an auto-detecting balanced output for long cable runs. Get the scoop on the Bass ParaEq MKII with this demo by Nate Navarro:

Nate makes me want everything he demos. Just like Ed Friedland.
Pepers makes a parametric EQ that goes further than this — 18dB boost/cut down to 25Hz.
