Michael League’s Cinematic Groove: Snarky Puppy & Metropole Orkest Perform “As You Are But Not As You Were”

Snarky Puppy has shared another powerful cut from their performance with the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley. This time it’s As You Are But Not As You Were — a sprawling piece that blends the band’s signature groove with cinematic orchestration.

Michael League holds it down on his Bacci bass. He moves through the arrangement with that unmistakable feel, locking in deep and melodic at the same time. The piece starts in an introspective space and slowly builds into something massive. Im really loving the sub octave michael is utilizing in this session.

This is one of several videos from this show that have been released. Each one shows a different side of the collaboration. There’s so much attention to detail and dynamic range in these performances. It’s wild to see how the band’s language translates in this setting.
