Tye Trujillo Pushes OTTTO Into a New Era With the “Sweaty Pool” EP

OTTTO has returned with Sweaty Pool, a new four-song EP that marks a new era for the LA-based rock quartet. The band features Suicidal Tendencies bassist Tye Trujillo, who is also the son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, as well as vocalist Bryan Noah Ferretti, guitarist Michael Arms, and drummer Triko Chavez. Together, they continue to hone their sound with groove and melody while retaining a raw heaviness.

“This EP represents us entering a new chapter, with every track taking a different approach,” says Trujillo. “It shows the diversity of dynamics we have. We’re excited to finally share our music with the world and can’t wait to play these tunes live.”

The EP is also bolstered by another bass great. Former Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss bassist Nick Oliveri provides vocals on the title track, delivering his signature ferocious style.

“‘Sweaty Pool’ is a crushing song that came together musically by the kick-ass, metal-driven heavy rock band OTTTO,” says Oliveri. “These younger bros are great at their craft — individually and collectively — so when I was asked to write some lyrics and sing on one of the new tracks, it was a no-brainer.”

“I think this track shows how the universe works in an interestingly cool way,” Trujillo adds. “I grew up heavily influenced by Nick’s music, and years later here we are collaborating with him. Working with Nick is so legendary. It’s truly an honor — he’s a huge inspiration to me. The world isn’t ready for this track.”

Trujillo kicks the song off with a killer slap riff that also looks like a lot of fun to play.

Sweaty Pool is available now on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and other streaming services.
