Watch Gojira’s Crushing Take on Black Sabbath’s “Under the Sun” at Bloodstock
Gojira are known for being relentlessly heavy, and during their 2025 Bloodstock Festival appearance they paid clear homage to the roots of heavy metal with a live cover of “Under the Sun” by Black Sabbath.
We recently shared another performance from this same Bloodstock set, and this cover further shows how strong the band sounded throughout the show. Gojira keeps things heavy, dark, and crushing, staying true to the original feel while delivering it with their trademark intensity.
Jean-Michel Labadie lays down a thick foundation using his signature Sandberg bass. His tone sits deep in the mix, locked with the drums, and gives the song the weight it needs. Im sure Geezer is proud. Black Sabbath helped define what heavy music sounds like. Gojira’s performance is a straightforward reminder that those songs still hit hard decades later, especially when played by a band that understands heaviness at its core.
