George Porter Jr. Leads Funky Meters 2.0 Through a Deep-Groove Set at NOLA Funk Fest 2025

If you ever wonder where funk actually lives, here you go.

Funky Meters 2.0 at NOLA Funk Fest 2025 is straight up New Orleans. This band that knows exactly how to sit in the groove and let it do the talking.  Right in the middle of it is George Porter Jr., smiling, leaning back, and laying it down on his D Lakin. George has been doing this longer than most of us have been listening. As a founding member of The Meters, he helped invent the feel that everybody else is still chasing.

What makes it even better is that this is not some rare festival sighting. New Orleans is home, always has been. You can catch George playing weekly at Maple Street Cafe, where the band is tight, the crowd is close, and the whole thing is live streamed so nobody has an excuse to miss it.

Funky Meters 2.0 is about keeping the funk warm, loose, and very much alive. George Porter Jr. is still showing us how it is done.
