Native Instruments Enters Preliminary Insolvency Proceedings

Another respected German brand is in hot water. Create Digital Music (CDM) reports that Native Instruments is in preliminary insolvency proceedings. The Berlin-based technology brand is also the parent company to iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx, all of which create music-making software, including bass plugins.
NI has been assigned Prof. Dr. Torsten Martini to administer the process, which will include restructuring and, if necessary, selling off assets.
“There’s also no indication of trouble with the health of NI’s core business,” CDM’s Peter Kirn offers. “NI accrued debts through massive expansion and high-cost acquisitions, not as near as I can ascertain, any failure of the company’s products or the teams who develop, support, and market them.”
The company has undergone some changes over the past seven years. As Music Radar explains, the company had to lay off staff and restructure between 2019 and 2020. Since 2021, the investment firm Francisco Partners has had a large stake in the company. It was also in the past few years that they acquired iZotope and Plugin Alliance.
“Both iZotope and Native Instruments produce product ranges that many producers and musicians rely on on a day-to-day basis, such as Kontakt sample libraries, RX post-production tools, Traktor’s DJ library or the Maschine ecosystem,” Music Radar writes. “Users will be understandably eager to learn whether these will be supported on an ongoing basis.”
Native Instruments has several bass virtual instruments including Session Bassist, Prime Bass, and more.
