Nine Inch Nails Reloads the Low End With Stu Brooks for 2026 “Peel It Back” Tour

Trent Reznor has kept an incredible roster of bassists in the Nine Inch Nails touring band, including Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Eric Avery, Jeordie White, Pino Palladino, and others. The band’s live show was anchored by Alessandro Cortini from 2013 until last year, but now there’s another powerhouse of the low end on board.
After kicking off the 2026 “Peel It Back” tour, Reznor unveiled the new bassist is Stu Brooks.
Brooks is a seasoned player who has worked with a wide variety of artists: Lady Gaga, 50 Cent, Danny Elfman, Mike Patton, and Kanye West, just to name a few. He’s also a member of Dub Trio, an adventurous dub/rock crossover band, and a solo artist. He released his debut full-length album, 40HZ, in 2023.
He shared the news on his own website, revealing he’ll be doing more than just playing the bass. “You read that right, Stu Brooks is on tour now with Nine Inch Nails,” the post reads. “He joins his Danny Elfman band friends Josh Freese and Robin Finck and will be playing bass, guitar, keyboards and providing backup vocals.”
The bassist previously collaborated with Reznor and Elfman on new versions of Elfman’s songs “True” and “Native Intelligence” in 2022.
You can see Reznor introduce Brooks and the rest of the band in this fan-shot clip of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans.”
Brooks will be on tour with Nine Inch Nails through March on the 2026 leg of the “Peel It Back” tour. See below for full dates.
