Washburn Revives the Wing Series with the Return of the Scavenger ’78 Bass

Washburn Scavenger 78 Bass

Washburn has announced the return of its Wing Series, which first took flight in the ’70s. The new lineup includes a version of the Scavenger Bass.

“The original Scavenger bass gave players a distinct alternative to the traditional styles available at the time, and they remain highly sought after by collectors,” Washburn writes. “The modern Scavenger ’78 brings this iconic bass to a new generation of players, with the exceptional balance and control players love about the vintage original.”

The bass is built with mahogany for the body and neck. The rosewood fingerboard holds 22 frets with pearloid dot position markers. Its stimple P-style pickup is matched to Volume and Tone controls.

The Washburn Scavenger ’78 Bass will be available soon with a street price of $699.

Looks like a danelectro longhorn. But I had a Washburn axxess 4 from the late 80s. The sound and playability was excellent. Sounded so good one of my drummer’s kids stole it.

WoW, it is beautiful!!! Washburn 4 string was my very first bass that I bought, scored it at a local pawn shop when I was 15 and I’m now 54 years young!!! I still play to this day, it would be an honor to promote Washburn on all my social media!!! Let me know, truly an honor!!!
