Jack Bruce Commands Cream’s Royal Albert Hall “Stormy Monday” in Newly Released 2005 Footage

Another clip has surfaced from Cream’s 2005 reunion at Royal Albert Hall, and this one is a treat. The band digs into “Stormy Monday” and Jack Bruce is in full form.  He is playing a Warwick fretless 4 string, and that tone jumps right out of the gate. The notes bloom and slide with that unmistakable mwah, giving the whole performance a vocal quality that feels alive.

He is running through a Hartke bass rig, and the sound is focused and punchy. Every nuance of his touch comes through, especially in the quieter moments where the fretless really sings.

For bass players, this is the kind of clip you throw on when you need a little inspiration.
