Tedeschi Trucks Band Return with “Future Soul,” A Genre-Blending New Chapter

Tedeschi Trucks Band has returned with their sixth studio album, Future Soul, which is available now. Led by the wife and husband duo Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the band dipped into new territory for the effort.
“I feel like this is the most unique record we’ve done,” says Trucks. “It’s my favorite collection of songs that we’ve ever put on a record. From song to song, there’s just not a weak spot. With Future Soul, we wanted to shake things up. We hope that our fans and everyone who listens to this album enjoys the ride!”
Part of the shakeup includes producer Mike Elizondo, who has previously worked with artists ranging from Dr. Dre and Eminem to Twenty One Pilots and Carrie Underwood. He helped to shape the music, which pulls from “funk, rock ‘n roll, blues, soul, punk, and much more,” the band states.
Bassist Brandon Boone covers all those styles while supporting the songs. On “I Got You,” he drives a vintage soul groove with a pick and a short-scale bass. Check out this live version of the Hendrix-influenced title track, which sees Boone alternating between the main riff and insistent eighth note patterns.
Future Soul is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, and Amazon Music). Boone will be grooving across the nation with Tedeschi Trucks Band on their Future Soul 2026 tour. See below for tour dates.
