Flea Covers Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You” with Bass, Trumpet, and Strings on The Tonight Show

Flea stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a super chill take on “Thinkin Bout You”, backed by a full string orchestra.  He moves between bass and trumpet, playing the vocal melodies on both.  The vibe is chill but direct.  On bass, he’s on a vintage Fender Jazz Bass through an Ampeg Heritage rig, keeping it simple and spacious.  The cover is set to appear on his upcoming solo album, giving an early glimpse into the direction of the project.

Anna Butterss holds it down on upright, locking in with the orchestra and adding that warm, acoustic low end.  Anna is playing through an Aguilar rig.

It’s not flashy at all. Just a cool, stripped back performance with Flea leaning all the way into feel over chops.
