Contacting the Mothership: Pops Magellan’s DAMAGE Live at EastWest Studios

Bassist Pops Magellan released her debut EP, Damage, in October 2025. Now, she’s followed it up with her debut live EP.

DAMAGE (Live at EastWest Studios) features three of her original compositions captured at the legendary EastWest Studios in Hollywood, California. Originally released as performance videos on YouTube, the songs were recorded in one-take shots all in a single day, reflecting her commitment to capturing the music in its most honest form.

“It was a way to start a strong foundation for the world I’m building,” Magellan states. “I wanted to make something beautiful, strong, and honest, something I’d be proud of looking back.”

The new live EP includes her songs “Misunderstood,” “Deep Thoughts,” and “Drive Complaining.” Each song features her creative, melodic bass style that is out of this world while also featuring special guests.  These performances feel less like studio takes and more like a direct signal from her expanding musical universe.

“The session features a handpicked group of collaborators,” a press release shares. “Robert Searight, founding member of Ghost-Note, brings his signature groove, alongside virtuoso Noa Kahn, acclaimed guitarist Artur Menezes, and Grammy winner Taylor Graves, who co-produced two songs on the original EP.”

DAMAGE (Live at EastWest Studios) is streaming now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other digital platforms. You can also watch the entire series below.
