Thundercat Lifts “Walking on the Moon” Into Orbit on Fallon

Thundercat touched down on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week with “Walking on the Moon,” a track from his new album Distracted.
Seated with his signature Ibanez 6 string bass and running through an Aguilar rig, Thundercat delivered one of those weightless grooves he does so well.  The song itself leans into his cosmic lane. Dreamy textures, off kilter rhythm, and a melody that drifts. It is less about arrival and more about the journey.  It is a tight performance, but also loose in typical Thundercat fashion with lots of improvisational licks and spacey vocal melodies.

A late night spot that feels like deep space.
