Sullivan Fortner Trio Reworks Dizzy Gillespie’s “Show Nuff” Live at BIMHUIS

Here is a fun one.  The Sullivan Fortner Trio takes on Dizzy Gillespie’s “Show Nuff” and they do not ease into it. This thing jumps right out of the gate.  It is fast and it cooks.

Tyrone Allen is right in the middle of it on upright, walking hard and driving everything. The lines are clean, the feel is deep, and the time never lets up.  He keeps a pace that few could maintain.  This is one of those performances where the bass does not just support.
