Eastwood Unveils Microtonal Doubleneck Guitar/Bass Inspired by Angine de Poitrine

After Angine de Poitrine brought microtonal music to the masses, Eastwood Guitars responded by releasing its first-ever microtonal bass, the Warren Ellis MT Bass Guitar. Now, they’ve gone a step further by announcing the Microtonal Doubleneck 4/6 Electric Guitar/Bass. Though not a signature instrument for the band’s Khn de Poitrine, its creation was inspired by the artist.
“A while back, Raphael Le Breton (the luthier behind Angine de Poitrine) reached out to us about creating a tribute to the now world-famous double neck he built for Khn de Poitrine. After discussions with both Raphael and the band, Khn ultimately decided he would prefer not to have a signature replica of his guitar made available for purchase, and that’s a decision we fully respect,” Eastwood shares. “What did come out of those conversations, however, was something unexpected: many years ago, Khn had approached us with a request to build a white, microtonal version of our Eastwood 4/6 Doubleneck featuring black appointments. At the time, we weren’t able to accommodate the request. Now, thanks to our Guitstarter program, we’re able to bring that vision to life. It’s the Microtonal Doubleneck that could have been!”
Eastwood launched the instrument on their crowd-funding Guitstarter program, which collects deposits to fund new and experimental instrument ideas. The minimum order limit has already been met, meaning the double neck will be put into production.
It will be built with an alder body and maple necks, each with shortened scales: 24 3/4″ for the guitar and 30 1/2″ for the bass. The bass side has one pickup, while the guitar has two and a toggle switch to select between them. Eastwood included volume and tone controls for the guitar and individual outputs for each half of the instrument. They write that it has an average weight of 11 pounds.
The Eastwood Microtonal Doubleneck 4/6 Electric Guitar/Bass comes in white – polka dots not included. It’s available for pre-order at $1,299.
