Watch: Lari Basilio’s “Seven” Blends Cinematic Guitar with Sean Hurley’s Groove

It has been a while since we shared a performance from Lari Basilio’s Redemption sessions, so this one is a nice surprise.

Basilio recently dropped “Seven,” another look at the album that pairs her melodic style with a heavyweight rhythm section. Sean Hurley handles bass duties on a Lakland 5 string, bringing his usual tasteful pocket to the mix, while Vinnie Colaiuta is behind the kit doing what he does best. Lari leans into her heavier side on this track with lots of low end riffs and plenty of shred. Her seven string Ibanez is front and center throughout, pushed through a Laney head for that polished, expansive tone.

The Redemption lineup has produced some great performances, and “Seven” is one of my favs
