Mastodon have returned with their first new music since the passing of former founding member Brent Hinds. “Your Ghost Again” was written and recorded during the chaos following his untimely death and has the quintessential Mastodon sound. Drummer Brann Dailor and bassist Troy Sanders trade vocals over the song.

The band debuted the song on June 3rd during a performance at the O2 Universum in Prague, Czech Republic. Sanders introduced the song, dedicating it to Hinds.

“This says right here, ‘You will forever be in our hearts, Brent Hinds.’ You’re right. That brings us to something we don’t do very often is we’d like to play a brand new song for you guys,” he said, as transcribed by Consequence. “We will have a new album coming out sometimes later this year and I think just yesterday we released a new song. And this is the first song in our entire career that wasn’t done with our friend Brent who passed away last year and is no longer with us. So we’d like to do a new song for you guys and we’d like to dedicate it to Brent because we miss him and we love him also. So without further adieu this is a song called ‘Your Ghost Again.'”

Mastodon is currently on tour in Europe, but they’ve also unveiled a North American tour for the fall. The run will begin September 16th in Orlando, Florida, and run through October 24th, where they wrap up at the Sick New World Festival.

“Your Ghost Again” is streaming now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more. See below for Mastodon’s full 2026 itinerary.
