Jethro Tull Opens the Vault for a Live 2008 “Thick As A Brick” Clip

Jethro Tull’s official YouTube channel is digging into the archives with a newly released clip from their 2008 performance at Baloise Session in Basel, Switzerland.

The band takes on “Thick As A Brick,” and of course, Ian Anderson’s unmistakable flute playing is right up front. The whole thing has that classic Tull mix of prog, folk, and rock, with plenty of twists along the way.  For us bass folks, the spotlight is on David Goodier, who is laying it down on a Fodera Anthony Jackson Signature 6 String Bass through an SWR rig. That is a serious setup, and he puts it to work with a solid, supportive line that keeps the tune grounded while everything else swirls around it.

It is always fun to see a classic band in this setting, especially with such a great bass tone in the mix.
