WATCH: Adam Neely’s Sungazer Plus Goes Big Band at Blue Note NYC

Adam Neely has dropped a full concert video from Sungazer Plus live at the legendary Blue Note NYC, and this one is a trip.

The nearly hour long set has Neely on a 5 string Dingwall with a stage full of musicians around him. That is the “Plus” in Sungazer Plus. This is the core duo of Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder expanded into a big, high energy ensemble with horns, keys, percussion, and a whole lot of moving parts. The music is super progressive, pulling from jazz, fusion, electronic music, and some seriously twisty rhythmic ideas. There are moments that may hit home for fans of Snarky Puppy and Ghost Note with tight arrangements and a band that sounds like it is having a blast.
