This Buckeye Burl Lakland 44-51 Is an Absolute Showstopper

This stunning Lakland 44-51 stopped me in my tracks, and I knew it had to be a bass of the week. The USA Series bass features a chambered body with a Buckeye Burl top in a special Buckeye Burst high gloss finish. As if that’s not enough, the roasted maple neck has a roasted birdseye maple fingerboard fitted with ebony block inlays.
Lakland describes the 44-51 as capturing the “rich and defined power of the early basses that revolutionized the four-string low-end world.” This particular bass has a few more contemporary features, including a 1.5 “Jazz” neck taper and a Neo Punch split coil pickup that they call super strong and punchy. All in, it weighs 7 pounds and 12 ounces.
