Brooks Combines Gibson and Epiphone Classics for the Three-Pickup EMB-3
Luthier Rob van den Broek is an expert on Gibson and Epiphone basses, and sometimes he blends vintage models together for something fresh. He’s done it again and, as usual, knocked it out of the park.
The Brooks EMB-3 is a hybrid of the EB-3 and an Embassy bass, he explains on Facebook. Even wilder, the left-handed bass features three Gemini TB-style humbuckers, each with its own volume knob and mini switch for coil splitting. Talk about tonal options!
Van den Broek used Khaya, an African mahogany, to craft the SG-shaped body and three-piece neck. Its ebony fretboard features trapezoid inlays and 21 nickel silver frets. Other features include a buffalo horn nut, a Duesenberg two-point bridge, a single-ply matte pickguard, and silver reflector cap knobs.
